School Supplies for Ethical Friends of Children

Hello! Our names are Saanvi Mirchandani and Khushi Shah and we are rising seniors at New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

We have seen the economic recession get worse in light of the coronavirus pandemic and know that so many families, especially here on Long Island, are facing financial instability. We want to give those families even a small reprieve during these difficult times. School supplies for children tend to get very expensive and with the new school year coming up in September, many families will need help buying said supplies.

We would like to help in any way we can and thus are organizing this fundraiser. We will use the money we raise to buy as many school supplies as we can.  We plan to purchase supplies such as backpacks, folders, pencils, glue sticks and more. We will donate these supplies directly to the Ethical Friends of Children, an organization who will distribute them to families in need. We plan to transport the supplies to the organization in August. The beneficiary is Siya Mirchandani (Saanvi's mom) who will be assisting us in buying all the supplies. 

Ethical Friends of Children is an outreach program of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island. They assist more than 2,500 children and their families each year by providing them with clothing and infant furniture at no cost. We are familiar with the Ethical Society and Ethical Friends of Children through our work with the youth group. 

We will greatly appreciate donations of any amount - every cent matters. Together, we can make a difference in our community and fight against the economic onslaught of COVID-19.
